As Professor Lucien Leape MD wrote years ago (and was recently evaluated again), drug companies and hospitals are the only business that profit when they harm patients. Anyone who has lost a family member from bad drugs and bad doctors would agree. While all businesses fudge here and there, most do not kill and injure millions of people annually with preventable errors, complications and adverse drug reactions.
